48-Year-Old Dies From Injuries Days After Hit-Run Elmont Crash

A man has died from injuries several days after a hit-and-run crash on Long Island.

The vehicle left the scene westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County Police said.

The victim was struck by a vehicle in Elmont at around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 while crossing Hempstead Turnpike at Elmont Road. 

The vehicle left the scene westbound on Hempstead Turnpike, Nassau County Police said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Late Friday afternoon, Oct. 18, police announced the man, Queens resident Patricio Rodriguez–Hayes, age 48, of Queens Village, was pronounced dead by a hospital physician at 8 pm on Thursday, Oct. 17.
